This zipline activity center has multiple courses and is an excellent way for the whole family to get outside, get some fresh air, and get their blood pumping. If you've never heard of it, zip lining is the latest craze in adventure activities. Riders wear a secure safety harness that attaches to an overhead pulley. The pulley is secured to a cable, and gravity pulls the rider through the course. There’s a braking system so that the rider can control the pace and level of excitement of their journey.
Zipline courses were first popularized in vacation hotspots like Costa Rica and Hawaii. In mountainous regions, the systems will begin at the top of a hill and work their way down. They often travel through tree canopies or cross scenic overlooks. Zipping through the air is a great way to see a new place. Plus, it's a fun way to spend a day as a family.
Adventures often traverse several separate zip lines connected into a longer course. The transition from one line to the other will be fun, like a rope bridge, climb, or games to keep it interesting.
The courses are arranged in several ways and range from kiddie gloves to adrenaline junkies. Even for those who choose not to ride, the parks are beautiful, and they have plenty of places where you can relax and watch the action from a distance.
Our area doesn't have mountains or rainforests, but that doesn't mean you can't have a lot of fun trying out a zip line. There's plenty to see, and the weather is spectacular. Our local zip line is at the Zip'N Fun Adventure Park on J.F.M. Parkway, just north of I-10 and next to Gulf Islands Waterpark.
The Tree Top Adventure Course at Zip'N Fun is a 50-game course. You’ll see many sky bridges, zip lines, games, and challenges like the Tarzan Jump of the various activities. You progress through the course with the help of a guide, and the aerial platforms and games get more challenging the farther you go.
You can pick three different adventure options ranging from one to three and a half hours. You don't have to complete all of the challenges, and you can stop mid-way through the course if you'd like to.
To participate in the Tree Top Adventure, riders need to have a waist 42 inches or smaller and weigh less than 275 pounds.
There's the Junior Adventure Course for the smaller riders in the family, specifically those up to 60 inches tall. This course has 20 challenges of all shapes and sizes, perfect for first-timers or old pros.
Parents will also appreciate that they can easily walk along the course, and there are plenty of photo opportunities. For the Junior Adventure, riders must be between 36 and 60 inches tall. The course takes about an hour and costs under $20!
