The center is housed in a restored 1915 schoolhouse right off Beach Drive in Gulfport. There are many interactive exhibits, including a professional career section to work on your skills as a train engineer, port captain, or vet. There's also a climbing structure where kids can burn off some energy and an anything-goes art room.
For a back-to-nature experience, head over to the Pascagoula River Audubon Center. The nature center has nature trails, a boardwalk, and a bayou pier. Kids can get up close and personal with wildlife in the critter tanks and at the bird feeders. There are also kayak rentals available on-site, so it's a great place to begin an even bigger adventure.
The center protects 70,000 acres of land along the Pascagoula River. This river is the largest free-flowing river in the United States, and the protected lands ensure that it remains wild and beautiful.
