Making your way in Gulfport today sometimes takes everything you've got. Wouldn't you like to get away and maybe take a break from all your worries? Thankfully, Gulfport has plenty of great bars and some of the best breweries on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Because sometimes you want to go where everybody knows, err, how to take your drink order accurately.

BEST BARS IN GULFPORT‍

Fishbone Alley Sign

There's no shortage of bars around Gulfport. Nestled between party hot-spot Biloxi and sleepy Long Beach, Gulfport has just the right mix of small-town charm and big-city amenities. You'll find a bar for every taste here.

Most of the best bars and hottest spots are centered around downtown and the lovely Fishbone Alley. Here you can bar hop to your heart's content, tasting the brews and catching a little bit of the vibe that makes everywhere unique.

If there's one thing that springs to mind when you think of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, it's probably the iconic beach bar. With the sand between your toes and a frosty beverage in your hand, everything is just a little sweeter. If that's what you came to town for, you'll find it at Shaggy's Gulfport Beach. They're located right on Beach Boulevard (Highway 90), just north of Highway 49. Their menu features oysters and seafood, burgers, and, yes, frosty adult beverages. Don't miss it, because it's one of the best beach bars in Gulfport.

Cocktails from Patio 44 Gulfport

Also, on the beach, right across from Jones Park and the harbor, you'll find Patio 44 Gulfport. It's perfect for an upscale date night, with everything on the menu, from delicious seafood and Cajun specialties to steaks and poboys. The drink menu is superb, with handcrafted signature cocktails to remember. And if you're feeling like an old standby, their Old Fashioneds, Manhattans, and Mint Juleps are some of the best in town. For special evenings out, their extensive wine list is sure to please.

If you're looking for a more traditional bar experience, check out Big Mikes Speakeasy. You can't miss it right downtown, across from Fishbone Alley. It looks and feels like a 1920s speakeasy, with themed drinks and a burger menu to match. As bars and nightspots go, they've got a pretty extensive menu for the peckish, with salads, sandwiches, and burgers. Check out their $5.99 "Great Depression Menu" for special deals and their consistently excellent selection of delicious cocktails.

Murky Waters BBQ Bar

Murky Waters Blues & BBQ is right off Fishbone Alley in a lovely 1800s-era open-air building. Local musicians play every Wednesday, which also happens to be wing night at Murky Waters. They have one of the most extended draft lists with lots of local brews and imports. And, of course, don't miss the out-of-this-world barbecue.

Kelly's Sports Pub is a sport's bar in the classic sense, a local hangout lined with TVs and helpful wait staff. Kelly's is located right off of Fishbone Alley in downtown Gulfport. Happy hours are daily from 3:00 until 6:00, and don't miss Taco Tuesdays and Thirsty Thursdays.

Are you looking for a place where the family can have dinner while you enjoy a tasty liquid treat? Mugshots Grill & Bar is the perfect spot. This local Mississippi chain has all the staples you'd expect--burgers, sandwiches, salads, shakes, and floats. To wash it all down, they've got an excellent selection of beers on tap and a full bar.
